Accruing decades of experience in the field of information technology, Adam Mico has excelled at Moderna since 2022. Upon joining the company, he took on the task of creating data visualization from the ground up as Principal of Data Visualization and Enablement, successfully bridging private and public sectors. He advanced to the role of Principal of Data and Analytics Strategists in 2024, through which he leads the platform for data visualization and generative AI.
Mr. Mico previously worked as a Tableau Evangelist at Keyrus US and launched his career in 1999 within the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development; over the course of his 22 years there, he served as a business analyst, quality control investigator, staff development coordinator, and business automation analyst. He advanced to senior data analyst before joining Moderna. In addition, his credentials include being a Tableau Ambassador, a member of the Tableau Speaker Bureau, an advisory board member of the Data Leadership Collaborative, and a technical advisory board member for Packt Publishing.
As a further testament to his dedication to Tableau—“a visual analytics platform that utilizes data to solve problems”—Mr. Mico authored an impactful text in his field in 2023 titled “Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification: A prep guide with multiple styles to help you gain Tableau Desktop Specialist certification.” In addition, he’s a three-time recipient of the Dreamforce Golden Hoodie Award and a two-time recipient of the Michael W. Cristiani Community Leadership Award, both honors given out during the Tableau Conference.
Attributing his success to his charismatic nature and ability to make strong network connections, Mr. Mico looks to the future wanting to make a more substantial impact in data analysis, drawing from his diverse experiences dealing with adversity as someone with autism. He supports several diversity and inclusion efforts, including neurodiversity, and aims to elevate the data platform for all.

Adam Mico has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Mico has carved out a career as a leader in the realm of information technology, with a particular focus on data visualization and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). He currently serves as a principal in data and an analytics strategist for Moderna, having joined the company in 2022 as a Principal, Data Visualization Enablement. Mr. Mico’s responsibilities include determining Moderna’s high-priority data strategy and developing new generative AI technology. He led the creation of Moderna’s enterprise data visualization platform with Tableau primarily and successfully implemented sensitive data into a method of effectively communicating with stakeholders, an effort he considers his greatest professional achievements so far.
Before joining Moderna, Mr. Mico took on the unique role of Tableau Evangelist, boosting the profile of the Tableau data analytics software for Keyrus, a technology consultancy. His early career was centered in the public sector, where he held a number of positions for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development across more than 22 years. Mr. Mico began working for the state of Wisconsin as an unemployment adjudicator in 1999, transitioned to a business analyst and designer in 2005 and later worked as a quality control investigator, a staff development coordinator, a senior data analyst and a business automation specialist, among other positions. He made the choice to leave his government job in 2021 and remains proud of his ability to bridge the gap between the public and private sectors.
Mr. Mico’s educational background includes general coursework at the University of Wisconsin–Parkside and coursework in political science and government at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. To further his technology credentials, he has earned a number of certifications, including as a desktop consultant for Tableau, CRM and Einstein Analytics consultant (Salesforce), as a desktop specialist for Tableau and in AI awareness from Moderna AI Academy. In 2023, Mr. Mico published “Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification,” a comprehensive guide to the software that has helped prepare others for Tableau certifications.
On top of his primary job, Mr. Mico offers his insight as a board member for the Data Leadership Collaborative Advisory Board & Packt Tech Author Advisory Board and Mr. Mico’s leadership in information technology has been acknowledged with multiple awards; he is a 2022 Dreamforce Golden Hoodie Award winner, Tableau Visionary, Tableau Ambassador, and a two-time recipient of the Michael W. Cristiani Community Leadership Award.
Even when he is not at work, Mr. Mico loves thinking about AI. Besides enjoying time with his family, he loves blogging about developments in generative AI, creating custom GPTs, mentoring and collaborating with the #DataFam (Tableau’s data visualization community), which is another example of his passion placing him as a thought leader in those fields. Mr. Mico plans to continue growing his knowledge of AI in the future while looking for new ways for Moderna to become a leader in the data visualization and AI space, as well as methods of using AI to parse data more effectively.
